Make a Donation to Autism Society Canada

How Your Gift Helps

By donating to Autism Society Canada you will be supporting a national, bilingual, organization in our work to:

  • Provide public education, awareness, information and referral on ASD issues that is accessible to all Canadians via our website, our email information service and our toll free phone lines.

  • Support our nationwide provincial and territorial member societies who provide direct service to individuals with ASDs and their families.

  • Advocate for universally accessible treatment and educational programs, family supports, ASD surveillance and increased funding for autism research.

  • Collaborate with many partners to support improved service delivery and accommodations for children, youth and adults with ASDs.

Every dollar makes a difference - please help us so we can continue to help others.

We Respect our Donors and are Accountable to You
As a valuable supporter of Autism Society Canada we are committed to providing you with full financial disclosure. If you want to know where your donation dollars go, please see our Annual Report 2008-2009 or contact us directly at any time for more detailed information on our programs and services.

Tax receipts will be issued for all donations over $10.

Donate Monthly:

You can use the CanadaHelps button below to set up a monthly donation to ASC. For you, it’s about convenience. Your contribution is automatically made through your bank account or credit card every month. And you can spread your donation out over the year, so that you hardly notice the regular deductions.

At ASC we appreciate monthly donations as they help to keep administrative costs low. Since we operate “virtually” we do not have a physical national office and therefore we sustain very few overhead expenses. Our powerful combination of “virtual office” and dedicated Board Members with a hands-on approach to governance enables ASC to do a lot more work, with a lot less money.

Honorary and Memorial Gifts

These flexible gifts are becoming more and more popular as ways to celebrate a special person or a special event. Recent donors have used this option to commemorate a birthday, a wedding, an anniversary, graduation, retirement or holiday. Here is how it works:

  1. You may make an Honorary Donation by indicating it on the printable donation form. [Eng PDF] [Fre PDF]

  2. After ASC receives your honorary gift, we will send a letter to the honoree acknowledging your thoughtful donation. (the amount given is not indicated).

Legacy or Planned Giving

Including ASC in your planned giving is a very meaningful way to ensure future support for people withASDs and their families. You have an opportunity to provide an important, perhaps even transformational gift for charity. Legacy or Planned Gifts should always be considered in consultation with your financial and/or legal advisors. Please find below a few simple ways that you can give.

Bequest: A will is a written document outlining how to deal with your estate when you die. Making a gift of cash or property by including a bequest to ASC in your will is one of the simplest planned giving options, whether you are writing a new will or revising an existing one. And please let us know - We want to thank you!

Gifts of Stocks, Bonds, Property: Amendments to the 2005 Income Tax Act have made it possible for donors to give publicly traded stocks and bonds directly to a charity, thereby greatly reducing their capital gain taxes. Similarly, there are advantages to donating property to charity. The first step towards making these kinds of donations is to get in touch with Richard Burelle, Executive Director via email or phone at 1-866-476-8440. We look forward to speaking with you.

Life Insurance: We would be happy to assist you in naming ASC as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy. Please contact Richard Burelle, Executive Director at 1-866-476-8440.

For more information: Should you have questions about arranging a legacy or planned gift to ASC, please contact Richard Burelle, Executive Director at 1-866-476-8440. We look forward to assisting you.

Other Ways You Can Help

Giving through the United Way: Each year employees donate millions of dollars through the United Way to benefit thousands of non-profit organizations. If your workplace donates to the United Way, look for a "donor option" or "donor choice" line on your giving campaign form. Then write in: Autism Society Canada, Box 22017, 1670 Heron Rd, Ottawa, ON, K1V 0W2. Charitable Number 13160 7657 RR 0001. Your local United Way will forward your gift to ASC.

Matching Gift Programs: Check with your Human Resources department to find out if your company offers any kind of matching gift program; where a company or individual will match donations to charitable organizations. These matches are often dollar for dollar, which doubles your charitable-donation power.

In-kind Donations and Sponsorships: ASC always appreciates support with underwriting printing costs for our publications and educational materials as well as in-kind contributions for other services. Please contact Richard Burelle, Executive Director at 1-866-476-8440

Corporate and Foundation Giving

Working in Partnership: ASC benefits each ear from the generous support of a number of corporations and foundations. This support helps us to develop and maintain our many programs. Corporate and foundation gifts can be designated to develop a new program, underwrite an existing program, or to provide much needed support for overall operations.

Annual Workplace Campaigns: Corporations may also support ASC’s mission by providing opportunities for employees to contribute through annual workplace giving campaigns.

More Information: For more information about how your corporation or foundation can become involved in ASC’s important work, please contact:
