In Canada, groups of parents and caregivers such as those in the provincial and territorial autism societies and other courageous individuals have been at the forefront of advocacy and advances in treatment and service provision for people with ASDs. They have also helped other families, health professionals, politicians, researchers and the public to understand the nature of this common developmental disorder.
This section of the website provides information for parents and caregivers on how to get support and how to access necessary services and information. There are also tips and advice on child safety, sibling issues and ways to assist older children with ASDs.
Resources are also becoming available for siblings, spouses/partners and children of people with ASDs and this part of the site will include these resources as they become available.
